Parts Desk Insights

Best use case: The 3/4″ ball valve is the most commonly requested seacock size for smaller through-hull assemblies cockpit drains, bilge discharge, and smaller raw water intakes on production boats up to about 35 ft. Its the correct valve to pair with the 3/4″ extra-long through-hull and either the straight adapter or 90 elbow adapter depending on hose routing. Remind customers that seacocks should be exercised (opened and closed) at least once a season to prevent seizing a seized seacock is a safety hazard. Bronze is the correct material for below-waterline valves; steer customers away from plastic or brass alternatives in these applications.
