Mercury MerCruiser Tab Position Sensor 8M0050826

Mercury / MerCruiser Quicksilver Tab Position Sensor 8M0050826

The Mercury Quicksilver 8M0050826 is a genuine OEM tab position sensor used on certain MerCruiser Zeus pod drive systems. It monitors the position of the trim tab or steering tab mechanism and sends feedback to the vessels control system so the system can accurately manage trim and steering adjustments.

Key Specifications

• Part Number: 8M0050826

• Component Type: Trim tab / steering tab position sensor

• OEM Brand: Mercury Marine / Quicksilver

• UPC: 745061873179

Compatible Applications

This sensor is primarily used on MerCruiser Zeus pod drive systems, including:

• Zeus 3000 pod drives

• Certain production ranges beginning around serial number 0M968828 and newer

These propulsion systems are typically installed on larger cruisers and yachts equipped with joystick docking and SmartCraft controls.

Function

The tab position sensor measures the exact position of the trim tab or control tab mechanism and sends that information to the boats control electronics.

It helps the system to:

• Monitor tab angle and position

• Provide feedback for automatic trim control

• Support joystick docking and steering adjustments

• Maintain optimal handling and vessel stability

Without accurate sensor feedback, the control system cannot correctly determine tab position.

Mercury lists several earlier part numbers that this sensor replaces:

• 8M0007608

Fitment Tip:
Because Zeus systems use multiple sensors that appear similar (tab position, steering angle, trim cylinder sensors), always confirm compatibility using the pod drive serial number or vessel SmartCraft system configuration before ordering.
